1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using DropComments ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

DropComments provides a self-hosted comment widget service for websites. Site owners can register their domains, embed a JavaScript widget, and manage comments through a dashboard. The Service includes spam detection, comment moderation, and a REST API.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must verify your email address before using certain features.
  • You may not create multiple accounts for the purpose of circumventing service limits.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account.

4. Free and Pro Plans

The Service offers two tiers:

  • Free plan: Limited to 1 site, 10 comment approvals per week, and restricted access to site settings.
  • Pro plan: Unlimited sites, unlimited approvals, and full access to all settings. Pro access is granted through promo codes and is valid for 12 months from the date of redemption.

We reserve the right to modify plan features and limitations at any time with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Post or facilitate spam, automated, or bulk comments
  • Distribute malware, phishing content, or malicious code
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users or visitors
  • Post illegal, defamatory, or infringing content
  • Circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls
  • Use the Service for any site that promotes illegal activity

6. Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the comments posted on your registered sites. While DropComments provides spam detection tools, you are responsible for moderating content on your sites. We reserve the right to remove content or disable accounts that violate these terms.

7. Intellectual Property

The DropComments service, including its code, design, and branding, is owned by DropComments. You retain ownership of your content. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and display comment data as necessary to operate the Service.

8. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.

9. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, all your data, including sites and comments, will be permanently removed. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, DropComments shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
